About Sozo

What is Sozo?

Sozo is a Greek word used over 100 times in the New Testament that means “saved, healed, and delivered.” It’s also the name of a gentle, Spirit-led prayer session that brings emotional healing and prophetic deliverance.

In each 2-hour session, we partner with the Holy Spirit to guide you through a deeply personal encounter with God. You’ll be invited to hear from Father God, Jesus, and Holy Spirit as you address:

  • Lies you’ve believed
  • Wounds that need healing
  • People to forgive
  • Unhealthy relational/generational ties
  • Sins to renounce

As you receive His truth and love, demonic influences lose their grip—often without dramatic manifestations. When needed, we’ll help you break agreements with the enemy and walk in greater freedom.

How is Sozo Different from Counseling or Coaching?

Sozo is not counseling, coaching, or talk therapy. It’s not a process-based service—it’s a one-time (or occasional) encounter designed to help you connect with God in areas where you feel stuck. We don’t give advice; instead, we help you hear from God for yourself.

Most people leave a session with emotional healing, spiritual clarity, and a stronger ability to hear God’s voice—especially if they’ve never experienced that before.

When is Sozo NOT a great first service?

If you’re currently experiencing a traumatic situation, or you’ve suffered a recent loss… then we don’t recommend starting with a Sozo.

In this case, we suggest starting with counseling. Your counselor may integrate Sozo tools into a session or refer you for Sozo  as needed.

How often should I book Sozo sessions?

Sessions are scheduled on an as-needed basis. This is because (unlike counseling or coaching) Sozo is not a process-based service.

Our aim is that you’ll have a true SOZO (i.e. “genuine freedom”) encounter. Most clients will come back for another Sozo anywhere from 1-12 months after their first session.

On rare occasions (typically when there is a high level of past trauma), we may suggest more consistent appointments.

If you’re visiting from out of town, you’re welcome to book multiple Sozo sessions while you’re here. We suggest waiting at least one day between appointments. You may also benefit from alternating between Sozo and counseling sessions to process whatever arises from the Sozo(s).

What's the difference between Couples' and Joint Sozos?

Couples' Sozos are designed for romantic relationships (married, premarital, or dating), and Joint Sozos are for two people in a nonromantic relationship (family members, friends, roommates, etc.). During a session, you'll invite God into your relationship and address whatever issues are hindering healthy connection.
